I've now spent half my life in Japan. And, though always living in Tokyo, I have a very special place in my heart for the Tohoku region and, in particular, the seaside towns of the Oshika Peninsula, where my Japanese relatives have lived for generations.

I've just returned from a relief trip to the North and have seen now with my own eyes the awesome power of Mother Nature, and the fragility of our cities (so much concrete and steel reduced to rubble in seconds). But I've also been moved by the strength of the human spirit in Tohoku's survivors, and humbled by their dignity and resilience in the face of such incomprehensible tragedy.

I'll keep them in my thoughts, and look forward to the day when flowers bloom again in Tohoku.

Michael Arias

Dear all. please listen to my mind. could you launch the blog somehow? you say "I haven't article" it's okay. because this is necessary for us to unite in the future. so please. I'll visit it when you start a blog. (by the way) on TV, a 3rd fukushima Daiichi NPP showing air radiation levels for 1400 uSv/h (microsievert per hour). maybe actually bad than it. I'm really I would like to continue to intercommunion seriously. thank you all.

To my mind:

She update the blog every days from Minamisouma city, Fukushima pref. as you may know, the atomic plant exploded in March 2011. at that time, she lived in Fukushima with her husband. and then stayed for mutual help. but her condition has deteriorated. and has been published in the blog about it.

What does she think about from dangerous areas? that she was a highschool teacher in the past. to my mind, because she reaching to the responsibility for this disaster as citizen as adult.

We seek a common sense for internet society. but as soon as possible...!
